What I learned in Jour 2 affected my level of media literacy because I see life in a whole new way now. I view media in a different way because I didn't know how important it really is and how it actually plays a big role in our every day lives. It affects us in ways we don't even realize. It seems like media is its own psychology.

One lawsuit that took place was when the popular streetwear brand Supreme sued another streetwear brand Married to the Mob. The Supreme brand is a male-dominant brand worn mostly by men. With Married to the Mob being a female-dominant brand, they had one collaboration with Supreme manufacturing box logo t-shirts saying "Supreme Bitch." Although the founder of Supreme approved this 1 t-shirt, the founder of Married to the Mob continued to use this logo on other pieces. This upset the founder of Supreme because he felt the founder of Married to the Mob was "piggy back riding" for success. Therefore, they were sued.

How the Digital Video Recorder Changes Traditional Television Advertising
This article is going to shed some light on a different aspect of how prime time television hours are affected DVR. It explains how it's not just TV ratings being affected and prime time television hours being non existent, but how advertising is being affected as well when fast forwarding commercials are a possibility with DVR technology.

One topic I would love to research is the theory of "primetime" for advertisers. I heard that supposedly there are certain times in the day where you would get the most views versus another time of the day.
Another topic that would be interesting to research is the fact that guys get more likes on instagram of pictures with their girlfriends than on women when they post pictures with their boyfriends.
One more topic that Fox News gives more opinionated events while other news reports like CNN are more factual.

My favorite sound recording of 2014 would have to be the Lido Remix to Disclosure's original song Latch. I already love the original House version of Latch. However, I love the mellow beat to this Love Trap version as well. I love remixes because artist always put their own creative input to an original song that doesn't make it "better," it just may fit your personal taste in music better. I originally heard this version on Soundcloud.com.
My favorite "oldie" would have to be Torn by Natalie Imbruglia. I like this song because this would have to be one of my first memory of enjoying music. It brings back great memories as a little girl.

Flight by Sherman Alexie
http://www.amazon.com/Flight-A-Novel-Sherman-Alexie/dp/0802170374
This book was influential because it goes through important violent moments in American history. What I read in this book, from history with Native Americans to the Civil War, stayed with me because it was terrifying and devastating moments. It sad that these things actually happened, but America has learned from all these times.
Looking For Alaska by John Green

This book was influential because it documents how an anti-social teenager goes to a boarding school to pursue the "greater perhaps." He then meets an outgoing girl who teaches him to be spontaneous. This book stayed with me because it influence you to break out of your shell, stick to your own beliefs, but to not be afraid to be adventurous.
Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck
http://www.amazon.com/Flight-A-Novel-Sherman-Alexie/dp/0802170374
This book was influential to me because at the time I read this book my Freshman year in high school, I've never read a book like it. Although the book ends with one friend murdering the other, there was a good reason behind it. It was a tough decision and action, but he truly cared about his friend and did it for the better.

Growing up, I have been exposed to all 8 types of mass media. As a student when I was younger, I was familiar with textbooks for educational purposes as well as fictional books read during my free time. With newspapers and the news, I would always tune into a news channel as I ate my breakfast and got ready before school. Magazines weren't a big part of my life growing up. I would come across them at the grocery store and flip through the pages if an article on the front page caught my attention, but that's it. Television and movies are something I enjoyed as a child and still enjoy even until now. However, my interest in both television channel and movie genre growing up didn't change, rather expanded. As far as audio and radio, I had a few limits with these. Before I would drive myself around, I didn't have total control of what radio station to choose. There were also limits as far as the internet. I would use AOL and used a teenage account.
I have never had a job specifically in the media, but I am a current employee at Michael Kors and make the visual displays that indirectly contribute to the brands media marketing. I would like to one day have a career in the media and be a curator of it. I have dreams of being an inspiration and tastemaker to the masses. I want my work to have a positive effect on the current media, which ever path my life may lead me, that will live longer than I will on earth.
I will be transferring to The Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising where I will major in Visual Communications. Visual Communications is the visual message you get from all types of two-dimensional images from photos, to signs, to advertisement etc. I would say that this major is related to the media. With the different types of two-dimensional images, you are displaying your vision to the world. No matter who is viewing it, you are mass communicating to all kinds of people.
I feel that my major is directly connected to the media. Current media is all about quick visual attention with an attention span at the shortest its ever been before. Visual communication is one of the most important elements in todays current mass media. It covers everything from branding, visually aesthetic products, marketing, and more. Without proficient visual communication skills, you will fail in gaining mass media attention. And with social media at its highest usage this day in age and only continuing to grow, exception visual communication skills are a necessity to succeed for any business.
